AUSCHWITZ CONCENTRATION CAMP POLITICAL PRISONER'S LETTER
Auschwitz concentration camp prisoner's letter on official camp stationery, 4pp. 8vo., with Auschwitz hand cancel and censor's stamp, Oct. 11, 1939. Prisoner Lenczowski Cresdaw (?), Prisoner No. 29553, Block 15/A2, writes to a relative in the Polish Neu Sandez district - a Polish ghetto. The sender adds "Schutzhaftling" ("protective custody prisoner") above his name, a label often given to political dissidents who were arrested, but not charged with any crime. Very good to fine.
