BUDAPEST JEWISH "FENCING AND ATHLETICS CLUB" STICKPIN
Pre-war membership stickpin of the "Vivo es Atletikai Club" ("Fencing and Athletics Club"), the first Hungarian sports club for Jews, founded in 1906. The enameled brass pin bears the emblem of the club which incorporates the initials of the club's name "VAC" into a dark blue Star of David. The head of the brass pin is 5/8 in. wide, the pin is 2.25 in. long. Over the years, the club added football, swimming, water polo, table tennis, wrestling, basketball and tennis. The club was banned during World War II, but reformed since then and has been participating in the Maccabi Games every year.
