AN ANTIQUE CHINESE PORCELAIN BOWLS, CARVED JADE
Antique Chinese porcelain bowls. Lot of Two. The first bowl is made from beautiful emerald green porcelain with an overall craquelure texture with impressive carved jade cover. The second bowl is shaped like a hexagon, with an orange dragon inside surrounded by floral design in the Chinese Famille rose color scheme inside and out. Ca. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. Size: d: 2 in. Provenance: Collection of Edward Hyers Clayton (1886-1946). American writer and missioner. E.H. Clayton and his wife were missionaries of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in charge of Wayland Academy, a missionary school in Hangzhou, China from 1912 to 1942. E.H. Clayton wrote a book Heaven Below based on his living experience in China.
