Letter dated 1932, typed in English on official stationary of Yeshivas Knesses Yisrael – Chevron, expressing gratitude and blessings to members of the
Machzikei Hadass community in London for their support for the Yeshiva. Signed by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chasman.
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chasman (1869-1935), leading figure in the Mussar movement. He studied at the Yeshivos of Kelm and Volozhin, and was appointed Menahel Ruchni of the Telz Yeshiva in 1897. In 1908 he became Rabbi Stuchin, being known from then on as ‘Reb Leib Stuchiner’. He settled in Eretz Yisrael in 1926 at the request of the Alter of Slabodka that he should serve as Menahel Ruchni of the Chevron Yeshiva. After the Chevron massacre, he moved to Yerushalayim together with the Yeshiva. His Mussar teachings were published under the title Or Yahel.
