The children's home in the Italian town of Selvino operated from 1945-1948, and absorbed about 800 Jewish children, Holocaust survivors. The children were educated in a curriculum designed to complete their studies in the fields they missed, teaching them various crafts and preparing for immigration to Israel. Some of the Celebino children immigrated to Israel in 1946, and some immigrated to Israel upon the establishment of the state and were absorbed in various kibbutzim.
