Classics. Yosef Lekach. First Edition. Cremona 1576.
Classic commentary to Megilas Esther, by R. Eliezer Ashkenazi, author of the Maaseh HaShem. In the introduction, the author hints at his wanderings from Egypt and his residence in Cyprus.
R. Eliezer Ashkenazi (1513-1586), was born in Venice and, after studying under the local Torah scholars, fled to Egypt, where he served as a doctor and advisor to the king. He then moved to Constantinople and thence to Cyprus. He eventually travelled to Poland, and at the end of his life served as Rav in Cracow.
The commentary of the Vilna Gaon of Megilas Esther is based on this sefer.
The last Hebrew sefer printed in Cremona.
