RUSSIAN IMPERIAL SILVER & CLOISONNE EGG
A magnificent, fine and impressive, composite of antique Russian silver gilt polychrome cloisonnee enamel egg. The surface of each piece is embellished with fine and impressive cloisonnee scrolling foliate and floral designs using various tones of blue, red and white sections of polychrome enamel, all on a gilded background.
Late 19th C. The egg is very nice made and has a maker marks: Silver marked 84 standard and workmaster's mark MC for Maria Semenova, Moscow, circa 1896-1908, Russian silversmith, Faberge workmaster.
Some experts believe that items made by Maria Semenova can be found in Faberge cases. These items also have engraved numbers and letters, just like the items of independent work masters who produced objects for Faberge but were not part of the House of Faberge.
SIZE: H-2.75". Weight: 167g (3.43ozt).
ESTIMATE PRICE: $3000 - $4000.
It is a great INVESTMENT.
The same kind of egg made by Maria Semenova is now selling on Sotheby with the estimate price of $3800 - $6400, please see the screenshot.
NO RESERVE auction. Start price is VERY LOW.

HISTORY: Semenova, Maria Wasiliewna. Working in Moscow from about 1890. Her pieces are of outstanding quality, especially in the painting of the cloisons. Her style tends more to the traditional, less often Art Nouveau. The magnificent cloisons of her flowers (on a matted gold grond) are shaded with violet tones. Other typical colours are white and green, with frequent frames of round turquoise pearls. Also from her hand are enamel paintings en plein combined with cloisonne frames.
