The book Masechet Sofrim, first edition with glosses of the Vilna Gaon, with an interesting dedication – Suwalki, 1862
Maseschet Sofrim – masechtot ketanot with the commentary Mikra Sofrim and Oter Sofrim, and the first edition with the glosses of the Vilna Gaon, brought together by Rabbi Yitzchak Eliyahu Landau of Vilna-Dubno. Printed in Suwalki, 1862. The first Hebrew book printed in Suwalki and one of the few Hebrew books printed in the city. Vinograd, Gra 367. An interesting handwritten dedication: ‘Sunday Shelach 1971, here Manchester. A gift given to my dear brother-in-law, descendant of the author the Vilna Gaon. From me, Yuda Yonah.” The gift was given to Rabbi Eliyahu Sternbuch, av beit din of Antwerp for many years, the son-in-law or Rabbi Baruch Hager, the Rebbe of Seret-Vizhnitz, and a descendant of the author the Vilna Gaon. [2], 40 leaves. Faded binding, slight stains, a preserved copy in very good condition.
