Shu"t HaRem"a MiFano. Venice, 1600. First Edition.
Shu"t HaRem"a MiFano, responsa and commentaries on topics by Rabbi Menachem Azariah of Fano. Zanetti Press, Venice.
Before us is the first edition of the important book Shu"t HaRem"a MiFano. The book also contains a number of chapters by Rabbeinu Yitzchak Alfasi, which is the main source of these thoughts. The title page does not explicitly state the author's name, only his initials.
Rabbi Menachem Azariah ('the Rem"a') of Fano [1548-1620] was a leading adjudicator and kabbalist in Italy. While still a youth, in 1574, Rabbi Yosef Karo appointed him to oversee the printing of his book Kesef Mishnah. The Rem"a authored dozens of books on halachah and on kabbalah, ten of which were included in the book Asarah Ma'amarot.
143 leaves, 19 cm. Quality paper. Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod 298.
Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Worming perforations. Light restoration to the title page. Magnificent new leather binding.
