This work was banned in the districts of Lublin and Cracow as the author’s son stated that it was falsely attributed to his father in order to promote sales. He later published his father’s actual writings on Chumash Rashi under the name Imrei Shepher in 1597. See E. Katzman, Yeshurun, Vol. XIII; P. Krieger, Parshandatha (2005) 366. Regarding the map, see Wajntraub, Hebrew Maps of the Holy Land, no. W.10. The marginalia on the verso of the title states “all this I heard in the name of my teacher HaGaon HaGadol…Gershon…” The marginalia on 169a are also signed “M(oreinu) H(arav) R. Gershon.”
