HUNGARIAN PRESENTATION AIR FORCE OFFICER DAGGER
Double-edged, diamond cross-section blade with inscription on the obverse of the blade “Bardos Istvan hadnagy bajtarsnok. 1946” the reverse is etched with floral designs and gilded Hungarian crest, the ricasso is stamped “KOZAK”, Hungarian crest, and “33”, all fittings and scabbard are factory darkened brass, eagle shaped crossguard has a blade spring release button on the back, black celluloid grip with twisted brass wire wrap, scabbard has a raised Hungarian crest on the upper obverse, and a raised vine and leaf pattern running. Reference: D. Fedurin, Dirks of The World, Atlant 2006, p. 88. Thomas M. Johnson of Johnson Militaria cites Robert Berger (author of World Dress Daggers, 1900 - 1945) identifies this daggers as M 1946.
