Bergen Belsen. 7 postcard-like cards, illustrations of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, by Pesach Ir-Shai [Signed in panel].


Illustrations: Bergen Belsen Synagogue Rosh Hashanah [1945], barbed wire, food, towers, camp hut, wooden bunks, children.


 Ir-Shai  (1896-1968) grew up in Budapest, Hungary. After studying architecture, he began graphic design in the Zionist movement's service. He designed the first modern Hebrew font - "Haim". Immigrated to Israel in 1925 and designed prominent graphic works and posters in the period press. Four years later he returned to Hungary. In 1944 he was sent to Bergen Belsen by the renowned Kastner train. During his stay in Bergen Belsen, he painted from the camp's sights, after the Holocaust he printed the illustrations on the cards in front of us. Immigrated to Israel (for the second time) in 1945 with "Kastner survivors".
