Collection of Marriage Certificates – Signatures of leading Rebbes Mesadrei Kiddushin

Collection of marriage certificates, signed by leading Rebees who were Mesadrei Kiddushin. Rare documents! With signatures from important times. Filled in by hand and with additional signatures. Presented here chronologically:

1. Marriage certificate by the Badatz of the Ashkenazic communities of Jerusalem. Sivan, 1924. With the signature of the Rebbe Rabbi Nachum Twersky.

The Rebbe Rabbi Nachum Moshe Twersky, the son of the Rebbe Rabbi Ze'ev of Rachmastrivka and the son-in-law of the Rebbe of Trisk Rabbi Ya'akov Aryeh Leib Twersky. Served as Av Beit Din of Kowel. Perished in the Holocaust. It is related that he delivered a speech in a muffled voice to the large audience that surrounded him before they were executed in the Trisk Ghetto: "Dear Jews! Before our eyes we see a terrible slaughter which our people have never seen before. There were ten generations between Noah and Abraham; every generation left behind it a remnant and memory and the son would pray for the soul of his parents. But our generation is more miserable than all the generations that preceded it, since they are murdering us all, our wives, children and babies. No one will come to our graves, no one will say Kaddish after us. Dear Jews! God's world is so beautiful, the trees are blooming, the birds are singing to the Creator of all, and only we have been sentenced to be thrown into an early grave. Our nation is a life-loving nation. Moses when he was sentenced to pass away asked God to let him live like an animal that eats grass or a flying bird. Please God! Look down from your holy habitation, look and see who you have harmed, who have you poured your wrath on. True, we the adults have sinned; however these cherubs, these newborn, these pure angels, what have they done that you have poured your wrath on them, that you have sentenced them already to rot in the ground. Dear Jews! We are going as a Burnt Offering on Kiddush Hashem. Let us all unite in our last moments. As one man we shall go to our deaths with a happy heart. The terrible moment will pass, and you God full of mercy dwelling in Heaven, find rest for our souls under the shadow of your wings" (Bikrovai Akadesh, pp. 114-115). All his descendants and grandchildren perished in the Holocaust, including his son Rabbi Avraham and his grandson Rabbi Yochanan Twersky. The only member of his family who survived was his siter, the Rebbetzen Margalit Hager, the wife of the Rebbe of Vizhnitz author of 'Imrei Chaim'.
