Printed Ketubah - Calcutta
Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom David Hai ben Eliyahu Yehezkel Baruch Ya’akov with the bride Rivka The convert bat Avraham Avinu. Calcutta, 1949.
Printed paper, with additions in ink.
Ketubah in Hebrew and in English. On the right side a Hebrew title in red letters with a Star of David in the center and letters combinations within it, as customary in Jewish Indian marriage contracts. Below it, in two frames (resembling windows in hand drawn Ketubahs) the wedding blessings and the Ketubah text, with handwritten additions and the signatures of the groom, bride, the rabbi and the witnesses. On the left side appears the title “Certificate of Marriage” in red with a vegetal pattern illustration and an open book. Written on top: “Bond” with translation of the Ketubah into English and signatures in English. Ink stamps of “Beth-El Synagogue”.
39.5X50 cm. Good condition. Folding marks. Small holes on folding marks. Minor spotting. Framed.
