Ketubah - Fes, Morocco, 1768
Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom, Chaim ben Meir, and the bride, Zahara, daughter of "The Most Excellent Scholar and Dayan" Rabbi Eliyahu [HaTzorfati]. Fes, Morocco, Friday, 15 Adar 5528 [1768].
The text of the ketubah details the family lineage of the bride, up until the Chacham Rabbi Vidal HaTzorfati (the first).
Frame made up of the verses of the "Priestly Benediction", "A Woman of Valor" and more. Witness signatures (curly rabbinical signatures, undeciphered). Inscribed at the bottom of the ketubah is the text of "Shir La'Ma'alot".
29.5X45 cm. Fair-poor condition. Numerous stains and dampstains. Tears, with damage to text. Creases and folding marks. Some of the tears have been professionally repaired.
