Provenance: Sotheby’s Tel Aviv, Judaica, 23rd April, 1995, Lot 210 (entitled “Yom Kippur.”). A wonderfully expressive painting by this Polish-Jewish artist, born in Starokostiantyniv (Yiddish: Alt-Konstantin), who spent all his life in Warsaw. Rear of canvas with biographical details of the artist written in German in a pre-War hand.
