Was orphaned at an early age and left the yeshiva where he learned to begin studying various philosophy books that led him to a state of spiritual decline and severe doubts in faith. After the First World War, he began to return to his sources and return to his full religious faith. During World War II, he stayed in Warsaw. In a letter from 1940, the Rebbe HaRayatz wrote to Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevy Herzog: "About two days before I left Warsaw I was visited by my friend Rabbi Hillel Zeitlin."Rabbi Hillel was murdered by the Nazis on the eve of Rosh Hashana 5703 (Rosh Hashana), while holding the Zohar and wearing a prayer shawl and phylacteries. Hy”d.
