Collection of Share Certificates, Insurance Policies and Other Certificates of Banks and Companies – Egypt, Palestine, Europe and the USA, First Half of the 20th Century
Varied collection of share certificates, insurance policies and other certificates issued by various banks and companies. Egypt, Palestine, Europe and the USA, ca. first half of the 20th century.
1-2. Two share certificates – Banque Commerciale de Palestine (Commercial Bank of Palestine). Monsohn press, Jerusalem, [early 20th century]. Arabic and French. 3. Share certificate – Steinmetz Electric Motor Car Corporation. Baltimore, 1921. English. With details filled-in by hand and signatures of the president and the treasurer.
4-7. Four "Citroen" company share certificates, issued in Paris, the 1920s: two share certificates of the "Société Anonyme André Citroën" and two share certificates in the amount of 100 Francs of "Taxis- Citroën"(subsidiary of "Citroën" which focused on manufacturing taxis).
8. Savings certificate for three Palestine pounds issued by "America-Palestine, Trade and Investment Company". Hebrew and English. Details filled in by hand, signatures and the company's stamp.
9. Insurance policy – The Palestine General Insurance Co.; issued to Mr. Zvi Sosnik in 1938. On top of the first page appears an illustration of the company's logo, signed "N.G." [Nahum Gutman].
10-16. Seven items issued by "Credit Foncier Egyptien": * Bond certificate issued by the bank. * Five certificates for "Insurance and Loans" of "Egypt Palestine" company, giving "the right to participate in the monthly benefits of Credit Foncier Egyptien shares". Four were given in 1943. * "Certificate for Insurance and Loans" of "Palameric Africa" company, giving "the right to participate in the monthly benefits of Credit Foncier Egyptien shares". Given in 1942.
17. Loan certificate in the sum of 100 Lira issued by Israel Electric Corporation. Haifa, 1956. Size and condition vary. Provenance: The Morton Leventhal Collection, New York.
