3rd-7th century AD
A hollow-form gold ring comprising a D-section hoop with tapering shoulders, ellipsoid plaque with rim, central cell with inset banded agate cloison, intaglio profile portrait bust with pellets. 4.39 grams, 26mm overall, 20.07mm internal diameter (approximate size British U, USA 10 1/4, Europe 23.0, Japan 22) (1"). Fine condition. A large wearable size.
Provenance
The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
