3rd century AD
A silver ring with D-section hoop, raised oval bezel with intaglio image of Mercury (Greek Hermes), holding a money bag and wearing petasos, tree trunk behind. 7.18 grams, 21.98mm overall, 18.19mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 8, Europe 17.15, Japan 16) (7/8"). Fine condition.
Provenance
Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s.
