Shlomah Shel Malchus. In Honor of the Emperor Franz Joseph. First Edition. Lemberg 1851. Extremely Rare!
Rare pamphlet with a sermon delivered by R. Moshe Eisen Cohen (a descendant of the Shach), who served as a Magid in Tarnapol. In 1722, Tarnopol came under Austrian dominion. This sermon was published in 1851, shortly after the ascent of Emperor Franz Joseph in 1848. Under the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph, Jews received equal rights, and he was respected and well-liked by the Jewish population. In 1869 the emperor visited Jerusalem where he was welcomed with great admiration by the Jewish population. The emperor established a fund aimed at supporting the establishment of Jewish institutions and in addition established the Talmudic school in Budapest.
