Many important approbations including the Netziv, R. Yitzchok Elchanan Spektor of Kovno, the Ohr Gadol of Minsk, R. Shlomo HaKohen of Vilna, R. Yom Tov Lipman of Mir, R. Yitzchok Yaakov Rabinowitz of Ponevezh, R. Mordechai Gimpel Yaffe of Brisk, as well as an introduction by his father in law, the Aderes.
Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook (1865-1935), was born in Griva, a suburb of Dvinsk and studied in the Volozhin Yeshiva. At the age of 19 he received Semicha from the Aruch HaShulchan and married the daughter of the Aderes, the Rov of Ponevezh. He served as Rav in Zhoimel, Boisk, Jaffa, and then as the Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Palestine. World War I found him in London where he served as Rav of the Machzike Ha’Dass. He was the founder of Ha’Yeshiva HaMercazit Ha’Olamit, which is today the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva.
