Ha'Ksav V'Ha'Kabbolah. First Edition. Leipzig 1839. Beautiful Copy.
Commentary on the weekly Torah portions authored by R. Yaakov Tzvi Mecklenburg, known as the K’sav V’Ha’Kabbolah after this work. With a fundamental introduction entitled “Ma’amar HaTorah” emphasizing the relevance and significance of the Torah in the modern era.
R. Yaakov Tzvi Mecklenburg (1785-1865), served as Rav of Konigsberg, and was one of the most influential Rabbonim in Germany in the Nineteenth century, who in addition to his rabbinical duties, battled mightily against the Reform movement. This sefer was written in response to various works by leaders of the Reform movement, who were publishing various irrational “commentaries”. Warmly received it remains one of the classic commentaries on the Torah.
