Fascinating set of memoirs written by R. Baruch Ha’Levy Epstein, the Torah Temimah. This book is a valuable source of important historical and biographical information about the Volozhin Yeshiva as well as many important figures with whom the author had personal connections with, including the Beis Ha’Levy, R. Chaim Brisker, the author’s father the Aruch HaShulchan and most famously the author’s Uncle, the Netziv.
R. Baruch Ha’Levy Epstein (1860-1942), was a son of R. Yechiel Michel Epstein Rav of Novardok (Oruch Ha’Shulchon). At the age of 13, he went to study in the Volozhin Yeshiva for 5 years, where he was known as a prodigy. He received Semicha from his uncle the Netziv, the Beis Ha’Levy and R. Refoel Schapiro. R. Baruch married the daughter of R. Elozor (Lazer) Moshe Horowitz of Pinsk. He was a prolific author of various important works, most famously the Torah Temimah after which he is known.
