Halachic novella and sermons by R. Tzvi Hirsch HaLevy Horowitz, son of the Ba’al Haflo’ah. This Sefer is the second part of the work Machne Levi, which was published at the end of the Ha’Makneh by the Haflo’ah.
R. Tzvi Hirsch HaLevy Horowitz (1730-1817), was the son of R. Pinchos Horowitz (the Haflo’ah) Rebbe of the Chasam Sofer. With the appointment of the Haflo’ah as Rav of Frankfurt, R. Tzvi Hirsch stood at the helm of the local Yeshiva and was known for his penetrating shiurim. In his work Lachmei Todah, he writes of the state of spiritual decline of the city and of his battles against the Reform Movement who sought to move Shabbos observance to Sunday, to the extent that he had trouble finding a minyan in his Shul.
