Sha'arei Chaim by Rabbi Chaim Sofer, Munkacs, 1869, First Edition

Sha'arei Chaim by Rabbi Chaim Sofer, Munkacs, 1869. First edition.

A strongly worded work about the correct approach according to the Torah to those who "rebel against the word of God", the severity of those who desecrate Shabbat in public, and how to treat them, not to mourn for the wicked ones who separate themselves from the community, and a strongly worded discourse against two doctors from Munkacs who publicly desecrate the Shabbat.

Rabbi Chaim Sofer (1822-1886) one of the foremost disciples of the Chatam Sofer and one of the leaders of Hungarian Jewry in his time, a genius and pious man, a steadfast warrior against the enlightenment and one of the leading responders to halachic questions in Hugary of that time. Born in Pressburg and circumcised on Yom Kippur by his Rabbi the Chatam Sofer. He began studying in the Chatam Sofer's yeshiva at the age of 11 and had an extremely close relationship with him until his death.
