Ito Shinsui "Early Summer Bath" Shin-hanga Print
Ito Shinsui (Japanese, 1898-1972). Japanese shin-hanga woodblock print titled "Early Summer Bath" from the series "Twelve Images of Modern Beauties" depicting a young woman kneeling in a steamy bathhouse. Pencil signed along the lower center and inscribed "9147" along the lower right. Signed in plate along the upper right with an additional seal along the right margin. There is a publisher seal to the verso.

This print bears the distinctive seal of the celebrated Western collector James D. Tobin. Tobin assembled arguably the world’s most important collection of 20th-century Japanese prints. It was dispersed in the 1980s, with a large portion of the collection entering many of the world’s finest institutions.
