Classic: Sefer Dagul MeRivavah - The Noda B’Yehuda’s Glosses to Shulchan Aruch, Prague 1794. First Edition.

A complete copy of Sefer Dagul Merivavah, printed in Prague in 1794. This work contains the handwritten glosses and notes from the Noda B’Yehuda’s personal Shulchan Aruch. Ever since its publication, it has been a standard commentary to Shulchan Aruch and printed in all subsequent editions.

First edition, prepared for print by R. Yechezkel Landa’s son, R. Yisroel Landa. In his introduction, he writes that this work is divided into two parts. Part I is called ‘Dagul MeRivavah’, which contains his father’s Torah thoughts and novella. Part II is called ‘Shulchan HaTahor’, which contains his father’s correctional notes, thereby correcting the many errors which appeared in the Shulchan Aruch his father had learned from. Interestingly, he notes that unfortunately he was not able to include marginalia from the Even HaEzer volume, since, as it happened, one of his father’s disciples brought it to a bookbinder for repair. While there, the bookbinder trimmed the leaves and cut off the marginalia without noticing. He was therefore only able to include a very small portion of his father’s glosses to Even HaEzer, which he found on another copy used by his father in his later years.

Printed with many prominent Rabbinical approbations, including that of R. Yosef of Zolkiew (commonly known as “Yosef HaTzadik” due to his piety. He was the son-in-law of the Noda B’Yehuda, and approbations from him are rarely seen). Also printed here is the approbation of R. Pinchas HaLevi Horowitz of Frankfurt, author of Hafla’ah.

In very good condition, printed on thick paper; slightly browned. Bound in a new cloth binding.
