FRENCH KING DAVID COLOR LITHOGRAPH MARC CHAGALL
Marc Chagall, Russian and French, 1887 to 1985, color lithograph depicting King David in the green landscape. Signed lower right on the plate. Additionally signed in pencil and numbered 14 of 500. Circa the mid 1970s. Matted and framed. Marc Chagalls dreamlike compositions depict aspects of the artists personal and family histories, and those of Eastern European folklore at large. Flying figures, elements of Jewish tradition, peasant life, and animals are frequent motifs. Chagalls practice which spanned painting, printmaking, books, ceramics, and stained glass was immensely influential in the development of 20th-century art.
