Rare edition of Pirkei Avos with Afrikaans translation by Rabbi Dr. Moshe Rom. Hebrew and Afrikaans side by side. Illustrations by the famous artist Saul Raskin. Although South Africa and particularly Johannesburg had a large and influential Jewish community, interestingly Hebrew publishing there was virtually nonexistent. Vinograd records less than twenty books printed there.
Seemingly unrecorded by Vinograd. On the binding there appears a Star of David with both the flag of the Union of South Africa and the flag of the newly established state of Israel.
