Two parts consisting of novella on the Talmud, weekly Torah portions, together with sermons authored by R. Dovid Tevele Schiff of London. Includes a sermon given at the service to pray for the King’s full recovery.
R. Dovid Tevele Schiff (died 1791) was a student of R. Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (Pnei Yehoshua) and R. Yaakov Poprush. After serving as a Dayan in Frankfurt he was appointed as Chief Rabbi of England in 1765 where he served with distinction until his passing. He was a contemporary of the famed R. Nosson Adler of Frankfurt with whom he maintained a regular correspondence.
Vinograd Offenbach 195. 3, 32, 1, 44 pages. 33 cm. Good condition, some foxing and staining. Original binding, front cover detached.
