Includes lists of almost every Rabbi, Synagogue, Talmud Torah, and Burial Society, and in general a wealth of information about the era. With 60 photographs, diagrams, folded maps, folded graphs and tables etc.
Samuel Margoshes (1887–1968) was a prominent Yiddish journalist, editor, and Zionist leader. Born in Galicia, he joined the Zionist movement, and emigrated to the United States in 1905. After engaging in various communal, educational, and relief activities before, during, and after World War I, he began his long association with the New York Yiddish Daily “Der Tog” in 1922. He served as editor (1926–42), English columnist, and commentator on Jewish events.
