Unique!!! Underground!! Drawings of the Atlit and Latrun detention camps. Olive wood? "Souvenir of my detention at the Latrun and Atlit camp" 1947/48/ Signed "Sheike."
During this period, the British Mandate incarcerated underground operatives at the Latrun detention camp. In 1948, the Jewish detainees were evacuated to the detention camp in Atlit. We are looking at two drawings of these camps from the period of transfer. The date on the drawing of Latrun is 11.7.47 and the date on the drawing of Atlit is 12.2.48.
2 souvenirs. Olive wood? The top part has a string for hanging. Very good condition.
ייחודי!!! "מזכרות ממעצרי במחנה לטרון ועתלית" 1947/48. חתום "שייקה".
מחנה המעצר לטרון שימש בתקופה זו לכליאת פעילי המחתרות ע"י המנדט הבריטי ובשנת 1948 פונו העצירים היהודים למחנה המעצר בעתלית. לפנינו שני ציורי מחנות אלו מתקופת המעבר, כשהתאריך על מחנה לטרון הוא 11.7.47 ועל עתלית 12.2.48.
2 מזכרות. עץ זית? בחלק העליון חוט לתלייה. מצב טוב מאוד.
מחנה המעצר בלטרון הוקם בתחילת מלחמת העולם השנייה ע"י שלטונות המנדט הבריטי, שימש לכליאת שבויי מלחמה גרמניים ואיטלקים וכן לאלפי תושבים בא"י, יהודים וערבים. בקרבות הקשים שהתנהלו במקום במלחמת העצמאות, נהרס המקום וננטש.
מחנה המעצר בעתלית שימש לכליאה בתקופת המנדט הבריטי וכן למעצרם של מעפילים ופעילי המחתרות. לאחר סיום המנדט הבריטי הוסב המתקן לשמש כמחנה מעבר לעולים ופעל עד להקמת מדינת ישראל. ב-1987 הוכרז כאתר לאומי למורשת ההעפלה והעלייה של מדינת ישראל.
