Tanach in Yiddish. Polemic volume. Tanach Bilshon Ashkenaz, Amsterdam 1686. Vellum binding. Early inscriptions.
Torah, Neviim and Kesuvim, with Yiddish translation (Yiddish-Deutsch), based on Targum Yonasan, Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Radak, Rabbeinu Yeshaya and more. By R' Yosef bar Alexander.
Two title pages, the first illustrated with a beautiful engraving.
Approbations by the rabbanim of the Va'ad Arba Ha'aratzos from the years 1677 – 1678 from the fairs in Yaroslav and Lublin. During this period, an additional edition of a Yiddish translation of Tanach was printed as well (see previous item), sparking a harsh controversy between the printers regarding hasagas gevul (infringement) and printing rights. Based on the approbations, it appears that during the same period that the other Tanach was printed, Athias was already actively occupied with the printing only his edition as completed later (see Prakim B'Toldos Hamadpisim HaIvri'im by A.M. Haberman). Early inscriptions and signatures in Hebrew and Latin.
Vellum binding, slightly worn. The first leaves are detached and have some tears and taping, mostly at the margins. Some stains and minor tears. Good- very good condition.
תורה נביאים וכתובים, עם תרגום ללשון אשכנז(יידיש דייטש), ע"פ תרגום יונתן, רש"י, אבן עזרא ורד"ק, רבינו ישעיה ועוד ועוד. ע"י ר' יוסף בר אלכסנדר.
אמשטרדם, בבית עמנואל בן יוסף עטיאש. תמ"ז 1686. [6] עט, קנ ד'; 32 ס"מ. שני שערים, הראשון מאויר כולו בתחריט מפואר.
הסכמות רבני ועד ארבע ארצות מהשנים תל"ז – תל"ח מהירידים ביערסלב ולובלין, בתקופה זו נדפסה מהדורה נוספת של תרגום התנ"ך לשפת היידיש(ראה פריט קודם) ועוררה פולמוס חריף בין המדפיסים על השגת הגבול וזכות ההדפסה, שהרי לפי ההסכמות נראה כי באותם שנים שנדפס התנ"ך השני, עסק עטיאש במלאכת ההדפסה, אלא שנגמרה מאוחר יותר(ראה 'פרקים בתולדות המדפיסים העבריים' א"מ הברמן).
רישומים וחתימות עתיקות בעברית ולועזית, בהם: "שייך להאשה הצנועה והחסודה מרת חנה ת"י בת הרב הצדיק מו"ה ישששכר בער ממעזריטץ פה ק"ק גרידץ" רישום זה (מעט בשינויים) נכתב גם על הכריכת קלף בכ"י סופר. "להאלוף והקצין כש"ת כהר"ר יוסף בר..." "הקטן זאב וואלף".
כריכת קלף, מעט בלויה. דפים ראשונים מנותקים וכן בדפים הראשונים מעט קרעים והדבקות ורובם בשוליים. מעט כתמים וקרעים קלים. מצב טוב – טוב מאוד.
