The first Tanach in Yiddish. Polemic. Tanach Bilshon Ashkenaz, first edition, five title pages, with illustrated title page and haftarah-table leaf! Amsterdam, 1676/79.
Five separate title pages; includes the illustrated title page, the "corrector's apologia" and the "haftarah table, " which exist only in some editions!
First printing of Tanach in Yiddish (Deutsch). During this period, an additional edition of a Yiddish translation of Tanach was printed as well (see next item), sparking a sharp controversy between the printers regarding hasagas gevul (infringement) and printing rights (see Prakim B'Toldos Hamadpisim HaIvri'im by A.M. Haberman). Some writing (short glosses?) in Latin.
Old binding, vellum spine. The first 7 leaves are detached. Some stains. Very good condition.
חמשה חומשי תורה, נביאים וכתובים בלשון אשכנז(יידיש טייטש). מועתקים ומבוארים ע"י ר' יקותיאל בליץ.
אמשטרדם, בדפוס אורי וייבש, תל"ו – תל"ט 1676/79. [7] סג [1] סד-עה, עז-קלח, קמ-רנו [1] יח [1] ד'; 32 ס"מ. חמישה שערים נפרדים: תורה, מגילות, נביאים ראשונים, נביאים אחרונים וכתובים.
כולל השער המצויר ודף "התנצלות המתקן" ו"לוח של הפטרות" שקיים רק בחלק מהעותקים! בתחילת הספר הסכמות רבני ועד ארבעה ארצות, רבני הספרדים והאשכנזים באמשטרדם. לאחר ההסכמות, רשות הדפסה ממלך פולין בלטינית ויידיש.
דפוס ראשון של הדפסת תנ"ך ביידיש(דייטש), בתקופה זו נדפסה מהדורה נוספת של תרגום התנ"ך לשפת היידיש(ראה פריט הבא) ועוררה פולמוס חריף בין המדפיסים על השגת הגבול וזכות ההדפסה(ראה 'פרקים בתולדות המדפיסים העבריים' א"מ הברמן).
מספר רישומים(הגהות קצרות?) בלועזית.
כריכה ישנה, שדרת קלף. 7 דפים ראשונים מנותקים. מעט כתמים. מצב טוב מאוד.
