An Orthodox Jew, A Religious Worker – An Impressive Proclamation by ‘Ha’Poel Mizrahi’
A proclamation published by “Ha’Poel Mizrahi” party (‘Torah and Avoda’) which was marked as no. 6 for the upcoming elections of the Second Knesset, and titled “An Orthodox Jew, A Religious Worker”.
In the First Knesset, which operated for a relatively short time, there was a united religious front. In the elections for the Second Knesset the religious parties each ran independently. ‘Ha’Poel Mizrahi’ received the most mandates amongst the religious parties.
The proclamation passionately describes ‘Ha’Poel Mizrahi’s” Part in all of the Zionistic movements that were established during the pre- establishment of the State of Israel commencing from 1881. Amongst some of what was written “Orthodox Jew, Religious Worker, you met the Ha’Poel Mizrahi members when they were drying the swamps… you found them serving in the Hagana and Palmach… you felt their presence amongst the organizers of the Maapilim (Illegal Immigrants).. you participated with them in the campaign to save immigrant children and teach them Torah and Mitzvot (Jewish life)…"
