GEORGE R. CARON SIGNED HIROSHIMA EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT
(1919 - 1995) Tail gunner of the famed B-29 bomber Enola Gay. Facing the rear of the B-29, he was the first to see the mushroom cloud. Caron was given a camera at the last moment and snapped a roll of photographs as the mushroom cloud ascended. His photographs of the explosion were printed on millions of leaflets that were dropped over Japan the next day. Signed eyewitness account 'Hiroshima - I Saw It First', 39 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches, Buckeye Aviation Book Co., Ohio, 1993. Caron signed in blue ink on the first page. Taken from his eyewitness account for the US Air Force Academy Oral History Program in 1975.
