A collection of letters from Lodz to Eretz Israel on the eve of the establishment of the ghetto 1936-1939

About 35 letters sent from the Jews of Lodz within Lodz itself and letters sent to Eretz Israel 1936-1939. Some of them were deported from Lodz in 1939 in the early stages of the ghetto's establishment, after Lodz was occupied by the Germans.

Many letters with family content in which the writers express their longing for their relatives in Eretz Israel, and the desire to immigrate as soon as possible. One of the letters by Nia which was written from Lodz in 1934 and heralds the difficult future that lies ahead. Nia writes that these days there is a daily danger to lives in Lodz and the only way to be saved is to immigrate to Eretz Israel as soon as possible.  One of the letters was written by Sarah Razin to her friend Chaya Unger and it opens with the words: "In honor of my beloved friend Mrs. Chaya Unger, " another letter was written by Hanoch. In the letters are the names of various addressees who were already in Eretz Israel at the time: Moshe Schreiben, of the Starelberg family in Netanya, to the Glaezer family in Tel Aviv, to Mr. Aharon Unger on Netzach Israel Street in Tel Aviv, and others.

Not thoroughly tested by us.

Most of the letters are in Yiddish, with little Hebrew. And most of them are dated by the writers. Some of the letters were sent to Eretz Israel by postcard, and some on ordinary stationery. general condition good.
