Chamisha Chumshei Torah - Tikkun Soferim, Amsterdam 1726. With Picart Illustrated Title Pages.
A complete set (in three volumes) of the famed Amsterdam Tikkun Soferim. This edition boasts unique illustrated title pages by the legendary Bernard Picart (1673-1733), a French engraver from Amsterdam who graced religious works with his illustrations.
This is the only Hebrew book to feature title pages illustrated by Picart. His name - B. Picart - is seen at the bottom corner of the page. With a separate title page for Haftorahs, also illustrated by him.
Published by Shmuel Rodriguez-Mendes, a respected community member of the Sephardic-Pourteguese community in Amsterdam.
This copy includes the rare fold-out Portuguese calendars which are lacking in many copies.
A complete set in 3 volumes.
Volume I: Bereishis-Shemos
Volume II: Vayikra-Bamidbar-Devarim
Volume III: Haftorahs for the whole year, with an additional title page. Also included in this volume is the approbation of R. Yaakov Eillon, Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam’s Sephardic community.
In excellent condition. A wide-margined set, bound in 19th century French bindings with gilt edges. 17cm.
