Pennsylvania, circa 1850. Artist unknown, possibly the work of C. Scherich. Pen, ink, and watercolor on paper; 19 x 20.875 inches. For similar examples, see M. Karolik, Collection of American Water Colors and Drawings, Vol II, item 1401; and Shelley, The Fraktur Writings ... of the Pennsylvania Germans, Vol. 23, plate 78.
