On the title pages and back endpapers, signatures of R. Yehuda Leib Schneersohn, with his stamp on the first title page.
At the end of the book, after the supplements, there is a list handwritten by Rebbe Chaim Shneur Zalman of Liadi, son of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch. The list details the titles of all the essays first printed in the supplement section of this edition, with the Torah portions they pertain to.
Rebbe Chaim Shneur Zalman of Liadi (1814-1879), son of the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch. He settled in Liadi in 1869, where a large following gathered around him to absorb his teachings and seek his counsel and blessings. Known for his fervent, passionate prayers, exceptional wisdom and kindhearted nature.
R. Yehuda Leib Schneersohn was the son of Rebbe Maharid of Liadi. He served as rabbi in Homel and Sirotsina, and later as posek and eventually rabbi of Vitebsk.
102; 24 leaves. Two title pages at beginning of book. First title page printed in red and black. Divisional title page for supplements section. 27.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dark stains. Wear. Worming. Stamps and handwritten inscriptions. Original leather binding, worn and damaged, with extensive worming.
