Shulchan Aruch HaRav by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi – the Baal HaTanya. Zhitomir: R. Chanina Lipa and R. Yehoshua Heshel Shapira, grandsons of the rabbi of Slavita, 1857-1859. Six parts in four volumes.
This edition is based on the 1855 Zhitomir edition.
Stamps of R. Chaim Mordechai Pilzer of Jerusalem (Yemin Moshe) in vol. I.
Vol. I (Orach Chaim, part I): [7], 5-124, 129-168, [1] leaves. Vol. II (Orach Chaim, part II): [3], 240 leaves. Vol. III (Orach Chaim, part III): [2], 225 leaves. Lacking first title page. Vol. IV (Yoreh De'ah, Choshen Mishpat and responsa): [2], 167; 42 leaves. Approx. 21 cm. Condition varies, good-fair to fair. Stains, including dampstains and dark stains. Tears, including open tears to title pages of vols. I and II, slightly affecting border in vol. I. Open tears to title page of vol. III, affecting border, repaired with paper. Open tears affecting text in several other places, repaired in part with paper. Worming, affecting text. Significant worming to final leaves of vol. II, with significant damage to text (with tears due to worming). Two detached leaves in vol. I. Stamps and handwritten inscriptions. New bindings.
Mondschein writes that he has not seen vol. III (Orach Chaim, part III). The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book lists this volume based solely on a photocopy of the title page, and it is not featured in the NLI catalog.
