A RUSSIAN ROCK CRYSTAL SILVER-MOUNTED GLASS DUCK

A beautiful Russian duck-shaped box. From the late 19th to the early 20th-century. Constructed of a silver-mounted bowl on a stand and a lid. The lid is made of glass and the bottom of a cut crystal is mounted in silver. The duck head is decorated with a dark blue stone cabochon (probably lapis lazuli). The duck's neck is decorated with numerous small round cabochons of the same stone. Silver parts are elaborately decorated with engraved patterns. Hallmarks: 84 silver standard, maker's initials AI (Cyrillic), and a woman's head in a kokoshnik.

Dimensions: H: 6 in., (15.5 cm.) L: 8 in., (20.5 cm.)

Condition: Very good with a small crack on the bottom rock crystal part.
