Special letter, handwritten and signed by Rabbi Avraham Yaakov Gershon Lesser - Happy New Year to the geniuses Rabbi Shmuel Salant and Rabbi Eliyahu David Teomim
Rabbi Ya'akov Gershon Lesser [1834-1925] was born in Lithuania, educated at the Mir yeshivah and served in several communities in Lithuania. He moved to the United States in 1882 and served as rabbi in Chicago and Cincinnati. He was one of the founders of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis and served as its president. He is considered the elder American rabbi. He was one of the leading activists fundraising for the poor of the Land of Israel.
