A SET OF 6 20TH CENTURY CHINESE PORCELAIN BUTTONS
6 Large 1960's transfer pictorials on porcelain buttons.
This is the second of these sets that the consignor acquired. The first set sold in another auction house and now we have this unusual second and last set to sell. These buttons were made and given out as propaganda during� Chairman Mao Zedong�s Cultural Revolution from 1966-1976. These were used to further Mao�s cult of personality and revitalize his hold on the country, which had been slipping.The buttons were made to represent him at different phases in his �Life of Service to the People�. The buttons are made of white porcelain and are transfer printed with Mao�s likeness through the years. These were made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province China.
