A SMALL CARD OF DIVISION ONE IVOROID PICTORIAL BUTTONS
2 Large 19th century Ivoroid (celluloid) buttons.
Celluloid was actually invented in the mid 1800's and these buttons known as Ivoroid to collectors were made in the 1870's. They are the earliest known celluloid button examples and typically are more sturdy than the later celluloid buttons. They are usually pictorial in design and almost always mounted in or on metal. The examples in this lot include "Fora and the Hind" and a nicely executed Deer and fence.
Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918
Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above
