Anne Boleyn D6651 - Mini - Royal Doulton Character Jug
Royal Doulton Character Jug, Anne Boleyn D6651 (black and grey coloration). Designed by Douglas V. Tootle. Series: Henry VIII and His Six Wives; Royalty, issued 1980 - 1990. Size: 2.5"H (mini)Anne Boleyn (1502 - 1536) became the second wife of Henry VIII in a secret ceremony performed in January 1533. Their marriage was officially sanctioned in May by Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Cranmer, and she was crowned Queen on June 1, 1533, in Westminster Hall. Unable to produce the son Henry VIII desired, Anne was imprisoned in the Tower of London of false grounds of adultery. She was beheaded with a sword on May 19, 1536, in a courtyard of the Tower of London (the modeler's use of an axe to form the handle was incorrect). Anne Boleyn was the mother of Queen Elizabeth I, born on September 7, 1533.
