RICHARD NIXON
(1913 - 1944) 37th president of the United States, only president to resign from the office, following the Watergate scandal. Typed letter as senator, signed, to Ethel Pontius, Executive Secretary of the American Legion Auxiliaries in San Francisco, March 7, 1950, on his official House of Representatives letterhead, regarding his appearance before the Executive Committee of the Auxiliaries in San Franciso, he writes 'I appreciated the opportunity of appearing before the Committee. It was a fine, representative audience and I felt it afforded me a real opportunity to get a message on subversive activities into all parts of the state.' Mailing folds, 8 x 10.5 inches tipped to a blank sheet at the top edge.
