SOVIET ARMY GENERAL DMITRY LELYUSHENKO
(1901-1987) Soviet military commander and Army General. He was named the Hero of the Soviet Union (twice) and the Hero of Czechoslovakia. During WWII, Lelyushenko became a strong influence during the defense of Moscow against the German invasion. His subsequent battlefield commands were largely successful and his final actions in 1945 involved directing forces during the Red Army's attacks on both Berlin and Prague. A book titled 'The Dawn of Victory', that was written by Lelyushenko, with his original signature and a hand-written message in dark pink ink, 'For good memory to Leonid Sergeyevich Rakitsky from the author D. Lelyushenko. April 25, 1966, Moscow.' The message and the book are in Russian. The book contains multiple black and white photos of Soviet military leaders and ordinary soldiers mentioned in the text. Hardcover, 5.25 x 8 in., minor wear on the cover edges, very good.
