BALDUR VON SCHIRACH
(1907 - 1974) Head of the Hitler Youth 1933 - 1940 and Gauleiter and Governor of Vienna, convicted of crimes against humanity in the Nuremberg trials and sentenced to 20 years in prison. A handwritten postcard signed 'Baldur', in English to an American friend in Virginia, dated 11/9/71: 'Dear friend, the Mueller sisters were charmed when I read your card to them and send you and Nika and Pookey their sincere regards. I was their guest for a very long time not permitted to pay a cent. But now I have to return to Troningen on the 17th. Please send all mail to the [...] until I give a new address. I have been invited by a friend to his house on a seashore but I have some business to do in Urfeld. Love to all of you! Baldur.'
